Murud - Janjira trip

Janjira, near Murud, is amongst the more hardy forts that the Konkan coast is gilded with. The Arabian Sea crashes relentlessly all around the fort, which lies 2 km into the ocean at Murud, a village in Maharashtra's Raigad district.

Murud was the 15th-16th century capital of the Siddis of Janjira. This indomitable fortress inspired the Maratha chieftain Shivaji to launch several attacks, but the fort remained unconquerable to the last.

How to get there : Murud is 165 km from Mumbai by road, a journey of about 5 hours. ST buses operate from Mumbai Central to Murud's Durbar Road. Trains will get you as far as Roha and Panvel from where you can take a bus to Murud. But the most convenient way to get here is by ferry from Mazgaon's Ferry Wharf, to Rewas, 23 km from Murud; or by catamaran from Gateway to Mandwa.

Janjira Fort

My Favorite part in the Janjira fort. a canon which has a range of 12 kms. It has blown away the fort close to it, into 3 pieces. u can actually see it from here, could not take a snap, as the weather was too hazy.

The Beach.

Golden Sunset on the Beach.

On the way back, on the Catamaran, These birds just kept flying so close to the boat. They were waiting for some food by the passengers on the boat. a good time to take photographs, but could get good ones, because the boat kept shaking .
